DJ Daycard & De Schuurman In the Flesh (Sorta)

They only really play two songs, but this grim looking video, probably recorded with a phone, is enough proof for me that bubbling is still alive somewhere in the world. As far as I can tell, the general populous has given it up for Dutch house, but these Antillean kids sure haven’t. A bit more DJing and dancing in this video, but compare it to the parties back in the day, and the crowd has shrunk both in size and age. I find it kind of odd that the Dutch youth of today are really the only ones holding onto something that hit it’s peak of popularity in the 90s, rather than latching onto the rave scene of DJ Chuckie and Hardwell that dominates the Netherlands today. Odd, but also very much a good thing, because this stuff is the dirtiest Dutch music around. I think De Schuurman needs to be told ASAP that his music is being played by the likes of Nguzunguzu at Chicago warehouse parties, and Sinden at festivals with crowds in the thousands, and that we’d all love to check out his gigs too.

Make note though, Shaun-D opens for Trey Songz and Ne-yo when they come through the Netherlands.
