RIP Charlie Louvin 1927-2011

Now I know most people that read this here blog don’t fuck with country music, but I fuck with it hard. One of the very first posts I did was about close harmony gospel groups, and while I generally don’t get along with people my age who summon the ghosts of Grand Ole Opry acts in their music today, getting sloppy drunk and listening to these dudes tell me how badly I’ve sinned is one of my favorite hobbies. The Louvin Brothers scare the shit out of me, and that’s one of the main qualities I look for in music. His partner and elder brother Ira was tragically killed by a drunk driver in 1965 (ironically while having a warrant out for his arrest for a DUI), and this morning Charlie went a bit easier from complications with his pancreatic cancer. Today I will be listening to the timeless classic Satan is Real all day, and will be as off-topic as I goddamn please.
